My artistic journey began in childhood, deeply influenced by my father, who was both a commercial artist and a painter. I earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Art from Nazareth College and spent several years teaching in public schools, the Allofus Art Workshop, and Genesee Coop Pottery. Later, I shifted gears, studying Historic Preservation at Columbia University before earning a Master’s Degree in Architecture from Yale University. My architectural training instilled in me a strong sense of structure and spatial design, which now informs the balance and form in my paintings and drawings. Over the past decade, I’ve had the freedom to explore and develop my painting skills more deeply after retiring from my role as Executive Director of the Rochester Community Design Center.
My work invites viewers into the unique beauty of Western New York, Vermont, and the many places I have traveled around the world. I am a signature artist with the Rochester Art Club and a member of the Genesee Valley Plein Air Painters and the Mill Art Center. I also have a deep love for figurative work and actively draw with artists in Studio 402 at the Anderson Art Center.
Recently, I moved into a new studio at the Keelox Facility at 215 Tremont Street, where I am grateful to be able to paint full-time. My work captures the textures, colors, light, and atmosphere of the places I choose to depict, as well as the personalities of my figurative subjects. I look forward to the connections and discoveries that come through my art—each piece an exciting and challenging opportunity for exploration.
